This makes it clear: Ethical-ecological standards are indispensable for the use of natural stones in landscape architecture and for the implementation of construction projects. Municipalities and planners alike demand fair trade materials for the design of their outdoor facilities. Delivering large quantities of individually manufactured paving stones, slabs and special elements in a short period of time is a challenge that we are happy to take on: from finding the right raw material, to careful quality testing, to technical documentation and control.
That is why the origin of the material is crucial in our certified and resource-saving production process. belgrano® manufactures come mainly from Europe and Asia, where they are manufactured according to strict specifications. Our logistics network efficiently coordinates suitable transport routes from an ecological point of view – by ship, rail and truck, according to specifications, directly to your construction site. As we are aware of our ecological and associated social responsibility, we try to compensate for any CO₂ emissions that arise in our logistical processes, sustainably and voluntarily.

climate & environmental protection organizations for a better future
In close cooperation with the non-profit climate protection organization myclimate, we have been offsetting all transport-related CO₂ emissions on a project basis since 2019 and from 2020 onwards. This applies to container deliveries from the shipping port to Germany and truck deliveries from the factory to Germany.
In addition to CO₂ emissions, it is still a recurring concern of our partners that Asian natural stone is increasingly being extracted in violation of human rights.
We can assure you: the constant guarantee of fair working conditions as well as applicable laws and guidelines is our top priority at all times!
How can we ensure this across national borders and continents? Since 2009 we have been involved as a partner of WiN = WiN FairStone – the independent seal for international social and environmental standards for natural stone imports.
The FairStone logo stands for certainty and the following standards:
- compliance with the core labor standards (including without child and forced labor)
- respect for the safety and health of workers
- tracing FairStone tracking down to the factory
- adaptation of production to current environmental protection measures
All accredited production facilities are regularly checked by independent auditors (e.g. TÜV Rheinland) and supported in the implementation of the contractually defined standards.
CO₂ offsetting of transport routes
At BESCO, we are actively involved in public discourse to ensure that fair trade and CO₂ compensation are prescribed for all natural stone imports. Only in this way can organizations like WIN = WIN and myclimate be financed and work effectively. We see cooperation with such NPOs as the most efficient and transparent way to design our value chain in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. We bear the resulting costs ourselves and do not pass them on to our partners.
Your trust in us is our greatest asset and, at the same time, our greatest incentive. For this reason, we like to take important issues into our own hands. We put together our own, self-trained and permanent inspection team in Asia at an early stage.
Our four inspectors not only check the agreed quality and tolerances of the materials, but also monitor compliance with the working conditions as defined by the International Labor Organization (ILO) in all Asian belgrano® productions.
