A picturesque landscape with history

Located around 40 kilometers southwest of Munich, the municipality of Dießen am Ammersee belongs to the district of Landsberg am Lech and is situated on the western shore of Lake Ammersee with a population of more than 10,600. The history of the town dates back to the Stone Age. Today, the climatic health resort with its wide range of leisure and entertainment facilities is a popular travel and excursion destination in the Munich area and a valued place to live. The community has its own steamboat dock, a sailing club and an extensive lakeside promenade with views of the picturesque surroundings.

Dießen am Ammersee – the path to new flair

Since the last renovation of the lakeside promenade in 1965, the outdoor facilities in Dießen am Ammersee had aged considerably. The shore walls were crumbling, fragile and in need of renovation. In addition, the people of Dießen expressed the wish to have direct access to the Ammersee. The ideas competition for the renovation of the lakeside promenade began in 2008. This was further developed in 2017 – almost 10 years later – with a public participation process and subsequently won by the planning offices Großberger Beyhl Partner Landschaftsarchitekten and lohrer.hochrein landschaftsarchitekten und stadtplaner. The participation process was used to adjust the preliminary draft to the needs of Dießen’s citizens. In 2020, the design underwent a final revision through various workshops initiated by the newly elected municipal council. Construction work on the approximately 8,200 square meter site could finally begin in June 2021 and should take just under two years to complete.

The official opening

At the beginning of July 2023, the time had finally come to officially open the Dießen lake facilities. The furnishing of the new area was completed just a few days before. And the result is impressive. Planted seating steps, newly paved circular paths and enlarged outdoor facilities now invite residents and visitors to take a break by the lake. The residents’ wish for direct access to the lake has been realized with the construction of natural stone steps on the shore. A wider bridge over the Mühlbach can now also be used by building yard and rescue vehicles. Benches, sun loungers and table sets have also been provided. The place now has a relaxing atmosphere and invites young and old to linger.

Why was belgrano® chosen?

When selecting the material, the decision was made to use multi-colored belgrano® granite from the natural stone supplier BESCO in Berlin. Thanks to personal advice from the experts at BESCO, the planners opted for a paving made of light grey and red-colored natural stone. For the floor slabs, they chose light and dark gray, yellow-gray and red belgrano® granite. The result is an aesthetic overall picture of an impressive, multi-colored paving surface that blends in perfectly with the picturesque surroundings. What’s more, each belgrano® natural stone is unique and lends the area an elegant charm.

What makes belgrano® so special?

BESCO has made the sustainable design of urban spaces its mission. The quality of belgrano® natural stone is the company’s top priority. This is the only way to guarantee the longevity of its projects. For this reason, BESCO sources natural stone from certified sources and tests it for its technical properties. In addition, belgrano® natural stone is fully reusable and thanks to its uniqueness gives every project an individual finish.
