Natural stone has been one of the most sustainable building materials for thousands of years. With the CO₂ compensation of our logistics we make our belgrano® natural stones even more sustainable and support climate protection projects that contribute to the goals of the United Nations for sustainable development.

We have decided to compensate for the emissions of the greenhouse gas CO₂ emitted by all transports to the German border.

Once again, we take a closer look at some of our belgrano® natural stone projects, some of which were completed more than ten years ago. We take a closer look at the Porschestraße in Wolfsburg (completed in 2009), the market square in Schönebeck an der Elbe (completed in 2016), the State Archive in Magdeburg (completed in 2011) and the main square in Landsberg am Lech (completed in 2013). The longevity of belgrano® natural stone is proven by current photographs.

The Calwer Passage is the new eye-catcher in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart. The passage, which is a heritage listed building, reopened in 2023 with a new concept and has since become the "place to be" in the city center. BESCO supplied regional european granite for the redesign of the outdoor facilities.

We take a close look at three projects that were completed more than ten years ago. What do the market square in Halle, the Airport Plaza at Hamburg Airport and the suburb in Ebingen look like today?

With the third construction site, the redevelopment of the town center of Hohenems was completed at the end of September 2018. In 2016, the renewal of the urban infrastructure and urban design of the Austrian municipality on Lake Constance began.

The redesign of the pedestrian zone in the beautiful Heilbad Heiligenstadt in Thuringia took about two years. Great value was placed on the citizens' ideas on the one hand, and on the thoughts of the business owners on the other hand, during the holistic planning. The intention was to make the lovingly named "Wilhelm" in the heart of the spa town an attraction for visitors and locals alike.

On the occasion of Latvia's 100th birthday, the Music School and Concert Hall in Ventspils was officially opened in summer 2019 with a concert by the Latvian symphony orchestra.

You can already find belgrano® natural stones on the areas of numerous gardening shows. Three new cities will be added in 2021. Our natural stones are used as floor coverings and design elements at the two state horticultural shows in Eppingen and Überlingen as well as at the federal gardening show in Erfurt.

With the help of a new traffic concept, the central market square and the adjacent Rheinstrasse were noticeably upgraded. The square now functions as the spatial and functional center of Breisach.

State garden shows are a structure-promoting measure to increase the attractiveness and popularity of cities for architects prestige projects. In order to maintain the elaborate embellishment in the long term, planners are increasingly choosing natural stone when choosing the building material – be it for flooring or individual special elements. Because natural stone combines visual advantages and diverse design options with robust properties and ecological sustainability.

Public squares and parks are a city’s calling card. If these are designed to match the buildings in the area, a harmonious overall picture is created. When choosing natural stone for the flooring or special design elements, it is worth investing in quality in order to meet the high demands for durability and sustainability. Under the keyword – fair production, the manufacturing processes are increasingly coming into focus.

15 years ago, Ulrich Klösser, Frank Dickmann and Florian Geyer, who later became authorized signatory and sales manager, set out to make the rich natural stone range in Asia and later also in Europe available for German and European construction projects. The founding of BESCO – Berliner Steincontor GmbH in March 2003 also marked the birth of the branded product belgrano®…

Florian Geyer started his career at BESCO with an apprenticeship in wholesale and foreign trade. This was followed by positions in field service, sales, in sales and project management. With this experience, the proven natural stone expert wants to contribute to continuing the growth of recent years and increasing the company’s market presence.

At the beginning of June one of our 4 inspectors from Asia Niu visited the BESCO Team in Berlin.

In 2020 we saw an increase in natural stone imports from European productions to more than half of our total natural stones. For this reason, we have decided to hire an in-house inspector for southern European productions. Mr. Moreira visits the production facilities for us and monitors the agreed quality.
