When Planning Comes to Life

Anyone listening to Florian Geyer quickly realizes: this is not a pure numbers person speaking. This is someone who feels the projects he references.

“Especially on large projects that challenge us over several years, it’s refreshing to take off the supplier’s lens and see how people engage with the stone. When passersby photograph the surfaces or children play on massive belgrano® stones, the stone comes alive and is experienced,” says Florian Geyer.

The Foundation: Partnership Instead of Sales Pressure

A common thread last year was the trusting collaboration that often begins where rigid sales channels end. The appreciation planners have for BESCO’s direct expertise is illustrated by an example from Austria: An architect sought Florian Geyer’s advice during his stay in Tyrol. They met informally “down in the valley” to discuss an upcoming project in person. From this direct, solution-oriented exchange, the work in Scheffau at the Wilder Kaiser continued.

“It confirms our philosophy that business relationships with us grow organically. The planner approached us because he sought a solution. We rely on performance and partnership – that convinces more sustainably than classic sales pressure,” emphasizes Florian Geyer.

Schloss Burg: History in Regional Stone

One of the most emotional highlights was the completion of the outdoor areas at Schloss Burg in Solingen.

“It’s genuinely inspiring to see the old substance. Since the 12th century, local graywacke has defined the site. We supplied stones that were quarried and processed just a few kilometers away. That’s real sustainability,” says Florian Geyer. The result showcases a significant German monument whose identity is preserved through local natural stone.

Prerow: Design Elegance under Extreme Conditions

A landmark in coastal projects was the completion of the works in Prerow.

“Here, the stone is exposed to the harshest influences of salty sea air and the freeze-thaw cycles typical of the coast. Our belgrano® natural stone remains unimpressed, as it has the necessary density to withstand these stresses where other materials reach their limits,” says Florian Geyer.

Architecture Trends: Sustainability and Custom Fabrication

Looking back at 2025, Florian Geyer identifies clear trends that will also shape the industry in 2026. A technical focus was object-specific custom fabrication, setting new standards especially for complex projects. The goal: maximum relief for construction sites through prefabrication.

“The precision we achieve in production significantly eases the workload on-site,” explains Geyer. “In times of rising labor costs, it’s a major economic advantage when custom elements are delivered ready-to-install rather than manually adapted on-site.”

Complementing this efficiency is the growing awareness of CO₂ balance. Reusing existing materials, as in the case of reused paving at Britzer Garten, is a key component of sustainable planning.

Highlights Indoors

BESCO’s technical expertise extends far beyond outdoor spaces. In 2025, two challenging interior projects demonstrated this. At Klinikum Braunschweig and a research center in Wiesbaden, limestone created an aesthetic that genuinely impresses.

“The result at Klinikum Braunschweig truly amazed me,” says Florian Geyer. “Indoors, the demands on details and surfaces are extremely high. We created a reference project that allows you to proudly say: this is unique.” A key factor here was also consistent factory-level custom fabrication.

The Nature of Stone: Risk and Expertise

The dialogue also makes it clear that a deep understanding of the material forms the foundation of every project’s success. Natural stone is not a standardized industrial product; its properties follow geological laws that require expert knowledge.

“Natural stone offers enormous design possibilities but also requires expertise to manage the material-inherent challenges,” explains Geyer. “You have to understand the dynamics in the quarry and the capacities of the producers. That’s why our presence with our own experts directly at extraction and processing centers is indispensable.”

Outlook 2026: Radial Elegance for Hamburg

Finally, Florian Geyer looks ahead to a project already in its final stages: a fountain installation in Hamburg made of red Scandinavian granite.

“These are radial elements, almost three meters long – designed by the WES office in Hamburg, a name synonymous with immense attention to detail. I look forward to seeing the results speak for themselves this spring when our photographer delivers the first images.”
