On November 27, 2018, representatives of certificates, bidders of natural stones and acquirers from the districts came together in the town hall of Neukölln to discuss the options of sustainable sourcing of natural stones.

Both XertifiX e.V. and Winwin / FairStone e.V. introduced themselves to the technical dialogue and reported on the certification and control of natural stones. The presentation of Helena Jansen, Coordinator for District Development Policy in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, was made clear by presenting a tender for fair certified stones.

The event was moderated by Nicole Saile for WEED e.V., who also illustrated the working conditions in conventional natural quarries. Finally, Mr. Dickmann’s presentation by the company BESCO showed how tenders can be successfully carried out in the end. Frank Dickmann also made it clear that there is an urgent need to enforce Europe-wide, uniform standards for natural stone productions of public contracts.
